Network Status
The status of the Pretoria-WISP networkPower Update – Temporary Restoration Notice
We are pleased to inform you that municipal power was restored on *10
January 2025* at approximately *10 PM*. However, city officials have
advised that overhead power lines further up the street were stolen,
requiring a scheduled power shutdown tomorrow morning to rectify and
fully restore the affected infrastructure.
We have been assured that this should have minimal impact, if any, on
our services.
We sincerely thank you for your patience and understanding as we
navigate these challenges. Should you experience any issues, please
don’t hesitate to contact us.
Kind regards,
—

Update on Network Status: 14th Street Power Failure (Municipal)
Dear All,
Due to sustained rainfall, we are experiencing ongoing disruptions
across various services. Power failure on 14th Street remains
unresolved, with little indication from the city council as to when it
will be restored. Additionally, fallen trees and worsening weather
conditions are affecting both wireless and fiber operators.
Henri has lost all communal power, directly impacting Pretoria WISP
services in the area. To address this, we have implemented a temporary
workaround to maintain connectivity until the rain subsides or city
officials restore power.
I sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during these
challenging circumstances. I am doing everything possible to resolve
these issues swiftly.
At present, we are running on a single battery to power the equipment,
which provides temporary relief. However, please note that Frogfoot
(fiber operator) has just informed me that one of their nodes has been
submerged and is currently down. Their team is actively working to
resolve the issue.
Connectivity is available but limited, so browsing speeds may be slower
than usual. This is a temporary situation, and I will keep you updated
with any news from the city council or other developments affecting our
network.
Thank you once again for your understanding.
Kind regards,
