At *23:54:42 on 14 July 2025*, a *global internet outage* occurred due
to one of the major internet service providers being knocked offline. As
of now, we have *not yet received an official statement from
Cloudflare*, which appears to be at the center of the disruption.
————————————————————————
🇿🇦 *Impact in South Africa*
Some local services have been *indirectly affected*, with *Openserve
currently offline in the City of Pretoria*. The full extent of
Openserve’s outage is still unclear, but it appears they are actively
working to restore connectivity.
————————————————————————
📶 *How This Affects Pretoria WISP*
The impact to our customers has been *minimal*, thanks to our diverse
network setup using multiple fiber operators. However, due to the scale
of the outage, we are *closely monitoring* all traffic as national
infrastructure begins adapting to the loss of upstream connectivity.
🔧 Current Areas Affected:
*
*Garsfontein (Core)*
*
*Menlo Park (The Urban)*
These areas are currently running on *failover capacity* to maintain
service stability.
*
*Menlo Park – 14th Street (Core)*
The *backup line via Openserve is offline* due to the broader
Openserve network failure.
————————————————————————
🚨 Openserve Customers, Take Note:
If you’re a *fiber customer using Openserve*, please be advised that the
network is *currently considered offline nationally* as of *00:44 AM on
15 July 2025*.
————————————————————————
We’ll continue to monitor the situation and will post regular updates as
we receive more information. Rest assured, *your connection will
automatically restore* once upstream links are stabilized or backup
lines are reactivated.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this unforeseen
global event.
